Outlets must have a food hygiene rating score of 3 or above to take part.

Belchers Café

Adopted a Sugar Smart policy which includes low-sugar condiments and sugar-free drinks for children. It doesn’t promote high sugar snacks at the point of sale. Belchers Café renewed its Healthy Choice commitments in July 2016.

Bellerby and Embassy College cafeteria

Promotes healthy eating to students. Offers a range of home-cooked dishes and salads. It displays its healthier snacks and drinks prominently. The cafeteria received its Healthy Choice award in October 2015.

The Bevy

Offers a Saturday morning breakfast menu with the traditional full English as well as healthier alternatives. It serves fresh fruit salads, low sugar granola and fresh pressed vegetable-based juices. The Bevy received its Healthy Choice award in April 2016.

The Dhaba, University of Sussex

Fil Fil

Small café in the lanes which serves homemade falafels, hummus and salads. Makes everything from scratch, free tap water and a variety of healthier drink options are available. Fil Fil received its Healthy Choice award in February 2018.

Fine Eat

This café on Western Road cooks traditional breakfasts and lunches in a healthier way. It uses high quality ingredients, swapped to better oil and sourced healthier drink alternatives. Fine Eat received its Healthy Choice award in May 2018.

The Flip Side of Food

Minimises the sugar and salt content of meals and provides balanced dishes. The Flip Side of Food received its Healthy Choice award in February 2016.

The Garden Café

Situated in St. Ann Well’s Garden, the café offers freshly prepared homemade meals. They do not add seasonings to children’s dishes and freshly prepare them onsite. The Garden Café received its Healthy Choice award in October 2019.

Gem’s Wholesome Kitchen

Offers healthy and balanced plant-based options to her customers. All dishes are homemade and freshly prepared, using high quality ingredients. She meets our healthy choice criteria and is therefore part of the Healthy Choice scheme. Gem's Wholesome Kitchen received its Healthy Choice award in 2019.

The Good Food Shop

Offers salad boxes, sandwiches, freshly baked baps and jacket potatoes. It sources ingredients locally and freshly prepares food onsite. The shop is Sugar Smart. The Good Food Shop received its Healthy Choice award in August 2017.

Hamilton Lodge School

The Lecca Café

Introduced a healthier lunch meal deal for children. Promotes Sugar Smart principles. The owner committed to promoting healthy options. The Lecca Café registered its Healthy Choice commitments in August 2017.

Library Café, University of Sussex

Offers a range of coffee, salads and freshly made sandwiches. Offers healthier choices. Library Café received its Healthy Choice award in July 2016.

Love Fit Café

Macs Café

The Perfect Plum

Event caterer that serves freshly prepared and homemade food. Offers a variety of healthy choices using high quality seasonal and sustainable products. Healthy swaps and reduced sugar, salt and fat in dishes. The Perfect Plum received its Healthy Choice award in December 2017.

Makes traditional Italian dishes with fresh ingredients, including healthy options. Pizza 500 received its Healthy Choice award in January 2016.

Cooks meals using healthy oils. The owner committed to attending Healthy Catering workshops. Pop In Café registered its Healthy Choice commitments in September 2017.

Roedean Café

Displays sugar content information for soft drinks and promotes free tap water. It reduced the sugar content of the children's breakfast option. Roedean Café received its Healthy Choice award in July 2016.

The Royal Pavilion Tea Room

Serves healthy meals, like vegetable-packed soups and healthy snacks. Students help with meal preparation and everything is made from scratch. Scrummies Café received its Healthy Choice award in January 2018.

Simply Veg

Vegetarian Indian takeaway that sells freshly prepared, traditional and nutritious Indian food. It uses a variety of natural flavours and ingredients with no cream or sugar in curries. Simply Veg received its Healthy Choice award in October 2017.

This workplace canteen offers balanced meals packed with veg and salads at a fair price to staff. The canteen offers the opportunity to refill water and doesn’t use any single use plastics. Sodexo received its Healthy Choice award in October 2019.

Souvlucky

Offers souvlaki prepared in a healthier way. It serves food every Saturday in Upper Gardner Street Market. Souvlucky committed to reducing the sugar in traditional Greek desserts. It received its Healthy Choice award in July 2016.

St. John's Centre and Café

Freshly prepares a range of meals. Aims to use healthier cooking methods like grilling and baking. St. John’s Centre and Café received its Healthy Choice award in November 2015.

Sultans Delights
