Warm Homes Discount
You could get money off your electricity bill with a Warm Home Discount, which is £140 for 2018 to 2019.
The money will be taken off your electricity bill, usually between September and March.
How to apply
If you qualify for a discount, you'll get a letter in autumn or winter to tell you either:
- you don't have to apply - you'll get the discount automatically
- how to apply
If you don't get a letter but think you qualify for a discount, you can call 0345 603 9439 Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm.
You can find out more about the Warm Homes Discount on the Ofgem website.
Winter Fuel Payment
You could get £100 to £300 to help pay your heating bills if you were born on or before 5 January 1953. This is called a Winter Fuel Payment.
Most payments are made between November and December, and you should get your money by Christmas Day.
If you get the State Pension or another social security benefit, you'll usually get a Winter Fuel Payment automatically. This doesn't include Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit.
If you qualify for a payment but don't get it automatically, you can find out how to apply on GOV.UK.
