2022 to 2023 progress report
The public sector apprenticeships target came to an end on 31 March 2022. From this date, there is no longer a target set for public sector employers. The government will still ask them to gather and report on:
- new apprenticeship starts
- total number of apprentices
- organisational headcount

The previous public sector target around new apprenticeship starts aimed to have apprentices make up 2.3% of our workforce. The final target ran from 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022 and was 182 for 2021 to 2022.
