Job introduction

There are a wide and exciting range of job opportunities available within the Housing Need service.

Housing Need officers play a critical role in supporting the Local Authority to provide assistance, accommodation and advice to people with a complex range of housing issues as such we are looking for people that are passionate about achieving outcomes for individuals in need.

Your drive, motivation and the energy you can bring to the role is more important than your professional background to date.

The available posts will cover the assessment of Housing Applications and the allocation of Social Housing in accordance with the Allocations Policy. You may be required to cover a busy front line service that will involve providing housing advice and assistance. These posts will also contribute towards the development and progression of our homelessness prevention service.

About the role

The successful candidates will have a strong customer focus and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment, you should be a strong team player who embraces change and is able to work flexibility in order to meet the needs of the business and our customers.

Ideally you should have some experience of dealing directly with the customers and working in collaboration with others to achieve results. You should have some understanding of the issues faced by individuals who are homeless or in housing need.

You will be a self starter who can demonstrate a range of skills that include excellent customer service, strong organisational skills, as well as an effective communicator with an ability to achieve results.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
