Job introduction

Brighton and Hove city council is recruiting 7 seasonal street-cleaning staff to clean the city centre and residential areas of Brighton on East and West until the end of September.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out cleansing operations as directed by the manager and chargehands.

To undertake, either individually or as part of a team the provision of a high standard of cleanliness and maintenance in a variety of roles to ensure the council's obligations under the Environmental Protection Act are met.

About the role

You will be working as part of a shift-working team, helping to keep our city centre and residential areas looking good for visitors and residents.

There are four shift patterns:

Central AM- 5:00 - 13:00

Central PM- 13:39 - 22:00

West AM- 6:30 - 14:30

East AM- 6:45 -14:45 

Are you enthusiastic, energetic, and able to lift and carry loads of up to 20kg? Happy to work outside in all weathers and be on your feet all day? Keen to give good customer service? Self-motivated and able to work on your own as well as enjoying being part of a team? Adaptable and willing to litter pick, empty bins and push a barrow? If you answered 'yes' to the above, the council would like to hear from you. 

Training, equipment and uniform will be provided. Special qualifications are not required for this position. we're looking for hard-working, reliable people with a passion for ensuring the city centre and residential areas of Brighton and Hove is a clean and safe place for everyone to enjoy.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
