About the role

Tarnerland Nursery School is for children aged from 3 months to 5 years, it is funded by the Local Education Authority in partnership with the Council’s Children’s & Family Services and is part of the Tarner Children’s Centre.

We are looking for a Nursery Practitioner to work as a Key Person with the 3-4 age group

Applicants must have a relevant childcare qualification and experience in working with children under five years in an Early Years environment. Experience of child protection/safeguarding work would be advantageous, as would experience of working with children with additional needs.

The term time role involves working as part of a team led by teachers; having up to 13 children in a key group, (NB this post has two key groups) with responsibility for leading their group times, observation and assessments. Overseeing the learning opportunities in a room or outdoor space (moving to a different space each week in a 4 week cycle.) The post requires you to have excellent knowledge of the EYFS and practical experience of planning and assessing for children of this age.

To have responsibility for the nursery’s holiday club during school holidays,(for children of 3-4years) although annual leave is to be taken during school holiday times.

Tarnerland Nursery School is in the centre of Brighton, we offer the opportunity to work with a highly skilled and diverse team in spacious indoor and outdoor environments, including our lovely ‘meadow’.

We are open 50 weeks per year (closing at Christmas) and offer up to 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Training opportunities are available including at least 3 in-service training days per year.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
