About the role

The Brighton and Hove Procurement Team are seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager on a 12 month secondment.The successful candidate will be responsible for;

  • Development of a Strategic Procurement Plan for a given major spend area;
  • Programming and delivering a range of complex tendering and commercial projects within the Strategic Procurement Plan;
  • Driving greater value for money from more effective and innovative procurement;
  • Liaising with key stakeholders, including heads of service;
  • Collaborating with Orbis partners;
  • Delivering social value;
  • Leading, coaching and motivating a small team of professionals

The work location for this role is flexible across Brighton and Hove, but you will be expected to develop and maintain excellent working relations with the various customers the Procurement Team supports, and also with colleagues across our organisation.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A strong knowledge of and experience in of public sector procurement, category management and business partnering;
  • Strong relationship management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Strong acumen in prioritising and resolving complex issues;
  • Awareness and experience of working in a political environment; and
  • An evidenced ability to support and develop staff.

*Eligibility to Apply for Secondments

Permanent employees are eligible to apply for a secondment where they have:

held their current post for at least twelve months, obtained agreement from their line manager and have a defined development need that may be met through the secondment or there is a defined organisational need that will be met via the secondment

Temporary employees are not eligible to apply for vacancies on a secondment basis, but would be offered a standard fixed-term contract.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
