About the role

Do you enjoy working with numbers and spreadsheets and are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience in accountancy?

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hardworking and reliable individual to join our Finance Team as a Senior Finance Officer.

You will be part of the Health, Adults, Families Children & Learning finance team, providing accountancy support to these pressured and high profile directorates. This will include providing financial monitoring information, financial advice, supporting budget setting, and the implementation of service plans. The role will link to budget managers within the service directorates and help to fulfill the business partnering function of the team. The team is in the Financial Services section within Finance & Resources directorate, which is part of the ORBIS partnership with East Sussex and Surrey County Councils.

Key principal accountabilities of this role include:

- To develop realistic forecasts and projections for expenditure and income during the year, in consultation with budget holders, and recommend action to budget holders to control actual or potential variances from budget.
- To assist in the delivery of training programmes or other relevant support to budget holders and/or systems users as required.
- To develop and maintain good working relations with budget holders and senior managers and provide a robust challenge to all aspects of financial management, performance and control to assist them in improving financial performance, value for money and service outcomes.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
