Visitor Centre Co-ordinator

A unique opportunity has arisen to become an integral part of the operation and development of Brighton’s famous Volk's Electric Railway. We are looking for a motivated and experienced Visitor Centre Co-ordinator to establish a programme of exciting events and activities, support and administer our volunteering scheme and promote the service to the public. You would further develop the railway as a major visitor attraction following a large redevelopment project, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The role will seek to provide a safe, easily accessible and friendly environment for all users, ensuring they enjoy their visit. As the public face of the service, they will promote the work of the Volk's Electric Railway and to take active role in delivering income generating activities. To assist with the day to day management of the building, ensuring that general housekeeping is undertaken, that visiting contractors are monitored, and that health and safety building and equipment checks are carried out. To assist in the smooth running of the service as well as a programme of events and activities

The working pattern will be 37 hours a week on a rota to include weekends

Volk's Electric Railway is located on Madeira Drive, Brighton.
 

• The person will be required to show that they have proven skills working in a visitor services role, specifically in a heritage or visitor attraction environment.

• Experience of working with volunteers and schools is essential.

• Proven marketing skills are also required in for the promotion of activities and events

• Candidates should be proficient computer literate and able to maintain and update our new website and produce regular volunteer newsletters and updates.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency's Points-based Immigration System.
