About the role
Providing services to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people has never been more important and this post is key to developing the children and young people’s public health programme. If you are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people then this post is for you.
You will lead the development of the public health programme to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people, which is a key part of the Brighton & Hove Joint Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This will include a comprehensive and strategic approach to delivering prevention across communities, services and settings. This will involve working in an integrated way with colleagues in the Families, Children and Learning Directorate, the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, local schools as well as other council directorates, the wider NHS, public sector, third sector organisations, and local communities.
You will be the lead commissioner for the healthy child programme, which includes health visiting and school nursing, and you will be responsible for managing the contract with the local provider.
You will also be the public health lead for the public health schools programme and will manage a small team of health improvement specialists to deliver the programme. You will be the children’s safeguarding lead for the public health department.
We highly recommend you read the ‘Maximise your Chances’ document below before you apply for this job. It is important you are able to show how you meet the Person Specification when applying. Not following this guidance is likely to reduce your chances of success.
