We are seeking a passionate and motivated Nursery Room Leader, with a level 3 qualification and experience working in a childcare setting, to join our hard working team.

About the role

Acorn Nursery is one of Brighton and Hove City Council Children’s Centre Nurseries. We operate five nurseries across the City and provide a high quality service for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. We are open Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm.

Acorn Nursery is located in Portslade (Mile Oak) . We have been purpose built to meet the needs of young children and their families. The nursery is an open plan design, it has three playrooms and the children are split into groups supporting their age and developmental stage.

The nursery provides children with lots of space to play and learn, use their imaginations and be creative. We have a large garden space where children can climb a climbing frame, enjoy our new sandpit, plant vegetables, enjoy our mud kitchen, ride bikes and explore nature. We have a play based approach to learning in a fun, happy and calm atmosphere.

We are proud of our staff who are qualified or working towards a qualification, who share our passion for delivering a high standard of care to the children and provide exciting opportunities for the children to grow, learn and develop into confident young people. We have a long standing team of staff who feel passionate about supporting children’s appetite to gain new experiences and grow. We have a holistic approach and ensure children’s emotional health is paramount.

Applicants must have experience of working with young children  3 month -5 years in an early year’s environment; experience of delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS); experience of meeting the individual needs of young babies and their families; demonstrate a passion and commitment for providing high quality care and learning opportunities.

We require applicants to be qualified to a minimum Level 3 in early years and childcare and have excellent communication and IT skills.

This job is for a Room leader in our Baby room (0-2 year olds). The Salary would be 37 hour full time. This position is leading the room working with the deputy room leaders. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate excellent practice and lead a team of staff, complete planning and assessments and maintain high standards of early learning, ensuring that activities are developmentally appropriate and are those in which children from a range of social, economic and cultural backgrounds are able to develop and grow.

The role involves being a key person for a group of babies; building relationships; being an inspiration to the children; supporting attachment building; ensuring the children feel safe; planning activities; maintaining records; using the Ipad to record development, carrying out observations; 

We desire the applicant to have an understanding of safeguarding procedures and should be willing promote Positive Parenting. Acorn nursery is passionate about inclusion and we work closely with outside agencies to ensure we fully support children and their families.

 We provide ongoing support in the form of regular supervisions and appraisals. Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.

Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System.
