How to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks

If you're a library member you can borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks from Borrowbox. You can also borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics and eMagazines from RBDigital. 

Both of these services have an app and a website.

BorrowBox

How to download and use the BorrowBox app

  1. Download BorrowBox from the Apple App Store for iOS, from Google Play for Android, or the Amazon App Store for the Kindle (Please note only Kindle Fire is compatible with BorrowBox)
  2. Once you’ve downloaded BorrowBox, select Brighton & Hove City Libraries
  3. Enter your library card number, PIN and email address

How to use BorrowBox on a computer

  1. You’ll need to install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer to download eBooks, this is free to install
  2. Go to the BorrowBox website
  3. Enter your library card number, PIN and email address

How to borrow and reserve items on BorrowBox

You can borrow up to 10 items at once. This is a maximum of 5 eBooks and 5 eAudiobooks.

We count any reservations you make as part of your 10 items. This is because we transfer your reserved items into your borrowed items when they’re available.

We don’t charge for reserving items on BorrowBox. 

If you haven’t returned your items by the time they’re due, you’ll no longer have access to them. This means there are no overdue fees. You’ll also have the option to renew your items.

How to download and use the RBDigital app

  1. Download RBDigital from the Apple App Store for iOS, from Google Play for Android, or the Amazon App Store for the Kindle (Please note only Kindle Fire is compatible with RBDigital) 
  2. Once you’ve downloaded RBDigital on your device, select United Kingdom, then Brighton & Hove City Libraries
  3. To register your free account create a username, password, enter your library card number, name and email address

How to use RBDigital on a computer

  1. You’ll need to install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer to download eBooks. Adobe Digital Editions is free to install
  2. Go to the RBDigital website  
  3. Register your free account, create a username, password, enter your library card number, name and email address

How to borrow and reserve items on RBDigital                       

You can borrow up to 6 eBooks and 6 eAudiobooks at once. There is no maximum number of eComics and eMagazines you can borrow at once.

We count any reservations you make as part of your 12 items. This is because we transfer your reserved items into your borrowed items when they’re available.

We don’t charge for reserving items on RBDigital. 

If you haven’t returned your items by the time they’re due, you’ll no longer have access to them. This means there are no overdue fees. You’ll also have the option to renew your items.
