Apprenticeships boost for city
Employers in Brighton & Hove have until Monday 22 April to bid for new funding allocated to the council to boost take-up of apprenticeships in the city.
New government rules mean councils are now allowed to transfer their apprenticeship levy funds to other organisations.
This means funding will be available to support local employers to take on new apprentices and develop existing employees.
The council’s apprenticeships team is allocating the funding twice a year based on the bids they receive.
Eligible employers will fall into one of the following categories:
• Businesses and other organisations
• The voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector
• Schools in the city that do not pay into the council’s apprenticeship levy
Employers who apply for apprenticeship funding will be expected to actively support the aims of Brighton & Hove’s City Employment & Skills Plan.
The council is committed to working in partnership with local employers to boost take-up.
