British Sign Language to go on council website – but where?
We’re asking the city’s Deaf community to tell us which web pages on our site they most want in British Sign Language (BSL).
Partnering with DeafCOG (Deaf Cultural Outreach Group), we’ll translate the pages most important to BSL users into BSL videos. The new content will enable the Deaf Community to do what they need to on the council website, as easily as possible.
If you are part of our city’s Deaf community and want to take part in the survey, go to the council website BSL translation survey and fill it in.
There’ll also be a two-hour focus group, where we’ll be asking Deaf residents to consider the survey results and help us order which services we translate first.
To find out more about the survey and focus group - or if you need support filling in the survey - contact DeafCOG using their online contact form and select 'BSL Translation'.
This project is part of the council’s work towards meeting the pledges of the British Deaf Association’s BSL Charter.
