New England Road works update August 2019

Temporary traffic lights will be in place on New England Road for the next few weeks while works take place to replace traffic signal equipment. This could impact on Preston Circus while temporary signals are in operation but this will be mitigated by the use of new traffic signals that can be connected into the council’s Urban Traffic Control system.

At the same time, SGN will be carrying out urgent works to upgrade the gas network. For everyone’s safety around the site, Argyle Road will be closed at its junction with New England Road and a signed diversion will be in place. Access to all properties on Argyle Road will be maintained.

The council is working collaboratively with SGN to carry out both schemes at the same time, sharing cost and shortening duration, to minimise disruption and impact to residents. All works will be completed by the end of September 2019.
