You must register to vote before midnight on Tuesday 26 November to be able to vote in the general election on Thursday 12 December.
For people with a permanent address who are eligible to vote, the quickest way to register to vote is online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
People who are currently homeless, rough sleeping or in temporary accommodation are entitled to vote. But the registration process for these people works differently.
People living in the city without a permanent address need to complete a printed form and return it to the Electoral Services office, Hove Town Hall, Norton Road, Hove, BN3 3BQ.
Support from local services and charities
Printed copies of the forms, along with a short guide on how to complete the information, are available at Brighton Town Hall and Hove Town Hall at the customer service desks.
The forms and guide are also being sent to organisations and charities working with people who may need the information.
The direct link to the downloadable form is on the government website and this has also been shared with local organisations.
In the general election the country will elect Members of Parliament. In Brighton & Hove the three constituencies are Brighton Kemptown, Brighton Pavilion and Hove.
The successful candidates will become MPs in the House of Commons.
The 26 November deadline for registering to vote in this general election is set by national law.
