By-laws restricting dog walking on some of Brighton & Hove’s beaches are now back in place.
The by-laws, which close stretches of the beach to dog walkers during the summer season, were relaxed throughout May help residents exercise their dogs safely while complying with social distancing guidelines.
Look out for signs
However, since the lockdown rules were relaxed and the city’s beaches have become busier, the by-laws have been re-instated and remain in place until September 30.
Dog walkers should look out for the dog friendly beach signs at the beach entrances or view the map on the council website.
Staying safe
Councillor Anne Pissaridou, chair of the environment, transport and sustainability committee said: “We hope residents and their dogs will continue to enjoy their daily walks along the city's dog friendly beaches, while social distancing and staying safe.”
A few reminders
Dog owners are reminded to:
- Ensure dogs are under control on the beaches.
- Keep dogs on leads when walking on the promenade.
- Clean up after their dogs
- Be considerate to other seafront users who may be nervous of dogs
