Where to look for work, help to find and apply for jobs, and support for people with special educational needs or disabilities.
Find a job
Before you look for work it’s useful to think about the skills and training you have, the type of job you want and the skills you want to develop.
You can search and apply for jobs on the:
- GOV.UK website, where you can also find disability confident jobs
- Brighton & Hove City Council website, where you can search for council jobs
- Brighton & Hove Jobs website, where you can look for local jobs
- WiredSussex website, where you can find local digital, media and technology jobs
You can also look for jobs:
- in a local newspaper
- at your local Jobcentre Plus if you’re unemployed and looking for work
Help to find a job
Organisations and websites you can go to for support include:
- Family Services directory
- Health and Adult Social Care directory
- National Career Service
- your local Jobcentre Plus
- your secondary school, sixth form, college or university
If you have special educational needs and disabilities you can get extra help from:
- our Youth Employability Service if you're 16 to 25 years old
- our Supported Employment team if you're 18 years of age, or older, and have disabilities
- Amaze who provide information, advice and support for local families with disabled children and young people
- Access to Work public employment support programme for people who have a disability or a health condition
Help at work
Talk to your employer if you’re disabled or have a physical or mental health condition that makes it hard for you to do your job.
You can also get support from:
- Citizens Advice, who can give you advice if you have a problem at work
- Access to Work, which is a public employment support programme
Support with money and bills
Get advice with money and debt and check if you can get help with paying your housing rent.
