What you can do
There are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved in as part of the Stanmer Park restoration project.
There is now a wide variety of additional volunteering, training education and learning activities on offer. Our project partners are delivering many of them, including Plumpton College who are now operating and managing the park’s historic restored Walled Garden as One Garden Brighton.
Volunteering opportunities are being advertised on the Brighton and Hove Community Works website www.bhcommunityworks.org.uk/volunteer by the Stanmer Park Restoration Project and by the Project’s Activity Partners as they become available.
Current opportunities focus on practical conservation tasks at the park such as: woodland work; litter picking; helping with the city council’s sheep grazing programme; wildlife surveys; site guiding and welcoming visitors and other assistance with park events.
There are also volunteering opportunities helping with additional research into Stanmer's fascinating history and heritage.
The Restoration Project is hoping that volunteers interested in carrying out activities such as these will want to broaden their involvement at the park later by becoming part of a new "Friends of Stanmer Park" group.
